I Was SOO Wrong...

...and how glad I am that I was. Until very recently, I didn't think a Black man was electable in this country. The American public is better than I thought. Misplaced cynicism: I am guilty.

X stayed up to watch the returns, the moment that CNN projected Obama the winner, and the parties around the country. D went out at 2am to snap cell phone shots of the end of the downtown Austin celebration. They are too grainy to post, but one captures a couple kissing ala the famous end of WWII photo.

Grainy can be good. Make it B&W and it might be okay to use. Send that photo to me and I'll play with it and send it back to you, if you want. --Upper East Tennessee Mom Of One

It's pretty amazing, isn't it? I can't remember being so happy that someone was elected. I was "glad" about Clinton, but I've never felt this way about a candidate. With Clinton I always felt that it was about him. This feels different.

It's difficult to believe that after the last two horrible elections and the last dreadful eight years we have a landslide election for a smart, inspiring, right-thinking candidate. And that he's a black man makes it even more astounding.

Cheers!
